la maison sensible installation responds to visitors' behavior
‘la maison sensible’ is an interactive installation that augments the physical space and relationship between visitorsand a fragile, subtle environment. the work is a collaborative effort between two artist duos: scenocosme–gregory lasserre & anais met den ancxt–and lola and yukao meet–lola ajima & yukao nagemi.
the installation is composed of hundreds of thousands of video-projected particles
using discrete sensors the artists transform the exhibition room into a living, breathing, responsive space that alters based on interactions. fueled by empathy, the concept proposes that visitors contemplate their daily agitated, anxious, and impatient behaviors in relation to technology and the world as a whole. the room allows people to take time to communicate deeply with their surroundings, and encourages patience, and attentiveness.

the floor and walls of the exhibition room are composed of hundreds of thousands of video-projected particles. a different visual and auditory environment is produced in response to behaviors of the spectators. each surface is sensitive: walls, floor, and furniture all independently evolve.
the room allows people to communicate deeply with their surroundings, and encourages patience and attentiveness
if visitors enter the space sensitively and with gentleness, it responds in alike manner, harmoniously producing sounds. when activity becomes too noisy, the sounds withdraw and fade. a loud entrance, stomping of feet, or non-pleasant touching causes the particles to panic, repelling away like microorganisms under stress. they seek refuge in the periphery of the room and wait for the dynamic to change.
walls, floor, and furniture all independently evolve
if the viewer tries to establish a dialogue by being kind, tickling, or stroking the furniture and walls, particles relax and reveal other qualities. when the room is quiet or empty, it responds by falling into a deep, stable, meditative state. the artists hope that giving a space physical behavior, it induces sensitivity and caring in people that is often non-existent.
